When you are looking to buy your first artificial Christmas tree, or perhaps it is simply time to replace this tree, one of the first things that you need to do is to determine the size that you can get away within your home. No one wants to buy a beautiful artificial tree to find out that it won’t fit into the area that you have dedicated for it. It may mean having to return what you thought was the perfect tree or having to find a new location for it, which could result in moving furniture or even switching the room location. That is why you always want to measure before deciding on what tree you can fit into the area.
The mistake that people make is that they often only measure how tall of a Christmas tree that they are going to need. While you do definitely need to know the ceiling height, you also need to look at the area around where the Christmas tree is going to be. Are you going to have room for a full tree? Maybe you need to go with a pencil, slender trees that are out on the market?
In addition, be sure that when you measure the ceiling height that you are taking into consideration the topper that you will place on the tree. If you have 9-foot ceilings, having a 9-foot tree leaves no room for a star, bow or even angel. You will need to have at least 6 inches for the average topper, and you may want to consider even more room, depending on if you have a relatively large topper that you are using.
A few other tips to remember when sizing your home for an artificial Christmas tree:
- For those who are in apartments, they will find that they could be limited to space. Why not consider a tabletop tree that you can sit wherever you have the room?
- Smaller homes may find that a pencil type of Christmas tree is much easier to place into the corner of your living area than something that sticks out a lot.
- Keep in mind your home life. If you have pets and kids running around, you do not want to get a tree that sticks out too much as it could get knocked over from time to time.
With proper preparation, you can get the right tree for your home, the first time around so you can start decorating and enjoying!
